Sarpa Shanti Puja & Homam – Rameswaram

For Relief from Kala Sarpa Dosha and All Types of Sarpa Doshas

Experience karmic relief and astrological cleansing with the powerful Sarpa Shanti Homam at Rameswaram—one of India’s holiest moksha-sthalas—specifically performed to mitigate the intense effects of Kala Sarpa Dosha, Naga Dosha, and other snake-related afflictions. Conducted by expert Brahmin priests well-versed in the Garuda Purana and Shukla Yajurveda, this ritual offers peace from past-life karmas, spiritual stagnation, ancestral issues, and relationship or fertility blockages caused by Sarpa Dosha. The unique use of turmeric and wheat snake figurines, along with Vedic fire offerings, makes this one of the most potent dosha-removal rituals.

Why Perform Sarpa Shanti Homam at Rameswaram?

Rameswaram is a Moksha Dham, renowned for karmic liberation. Lord Rama is believed to have performed ancestral rituals here after the Lanka war to absolve himself and his lineage of karmic ties. This makes Rameswaram a spiritually supercharged location to perform rituals related to ancestral disturbances and serpentine curses, including Kala Sarpa Dosha and Naga Dosha.

Sarpa Dosha, often visible in horoscopes with Rahu and Ketu afflictions, causes issues like infertility, marital discord, fear of snakes, sudden losses, bad dreams, and unexplained setbacks. Sarpa Shanti Homam offers relief from these effects and helps remove spiritual blocks that hinder growth and harmony.

This ritual is also advised when one experiences recurring health issues, financial stagnation, family disharmony, or lack of progeny without a medical cause.

Sarpa Shanti Homam Procedure at Rameswaram

The homam is performed strictly as per ancient Vedic and Agama traditions, led by 5 senior Brahmin priests from temple-authorized lineages. The entire process takes about 4–5 hours and is done near Agni Teertham or authorized ritual spaces in Rameswaram.

Ganapati Puja & Sankalpam

The ritual begins with invoking Lord Ganesha to remove all obstacles. The priest chants your name, nakshatra, rashi, and gotra, along with the purpose—Sarpa Dosha Nivaran, relief from Kala Sarpa Dosha, family peace, fertility, or spiritual healing.

Holy materials such as darbha grass, tulsi, turmeric, sandalwood, flowers, and sacred water are used to purify the space.

Kalasha Sthapana & Invocation of Snake Deities

A Kalasha (sacred pot) is installed to invoke divine serpent energies, particularly Ananta, Vasuki, Takshaka, and Karkotaka. Snake gods are invited using sacred mantras and offered flowers, turmeric, and sandal paste.

Invocation of Wheat & Turmeric Serpent Figurines

This is the heart of the ritual. Carefully crafted wheat flour and turmeric paste figurines representing snakes, frogs, scorpions, and other dosha-bearing animals are placed on a banana leaf.

These represent the astral form of serpent-related karmas in the devotee’s life. Priests invoke the negative energies and transfer them into these figurines using bija mantras. This process draws out the unseen blocks and past-life karmas associated with Naga Dosha.

Sarpa Dosha Homa

Vedic mantras from the Shukla Yajurveda, Atharva Veda, and Garuda Purana are chanted while offering ghee, sesame seeds, herbs, rice, and symbolic animal figurines into the fire.

Powerful Sarpa Gayatri and Ashlesha Bali mantras are recited:

“ॐ सर्प देवताभ्यः नमः” “ॐ नागराजाय नमः” “ॐ अनन्ताय नमः”

These offerings appease the serpent deities and burn accumulated karmas in the sacred fire.

Special Rahu-Ketu pariharams and Kala Sarpa Nivarana chants are included if the dosha is clearly seen in the horoscope.

Poornahuti & Pitru Shanti Archana

The final offering (Poornahuti) is made with special herbs and clarified butter, signifying the surrender of one’s karmic burdens. This is followed by archana to Lord Shiva (Ramanatha Swamy) and offerings at the Naga devata shrine or tree base, where milk, turmeric, and flowers are offered.

Priests also perform a mini Pitru Shanti rite to pacify any ancestor-related serpent curses or genetic karmas.
