What is Tripindi Shraddh?
Tripindi Shraddh is the Pind Daan procedure performed to the ancestors of the past three generations when regular Shraddh has been discontinued for various reasons for three continuous years. As any Shraddh is performed to offer food and water to the Pitru devatas, Tripindi Shraddh is a ceremony of offering food and water to the souls of departed parents and ancestors. This is also known as Tripindi Shanti Vidhi.

Tripindi Shraddha Pooja is performed with Pind (rice balls) assembled on Vishnu Paad to appease Lord Vishnu in the form of Gadadhar. This is best performed in Teertha Kshetras, as suggested by scriptures. Performing Tripindi at Rameshwaram, Gokarna, Srirangapattana, Gaya, Trimbakeshwar and others Thirtha Kshetras are considered very auspicious. Tripindi Shraddha is recommended in a well-known book “Shraddha Chintamani”. There are many writings like, “Godayatra Vivek Darshan” that can throw light on the cause and effect of Pitru Dosh, as well as Tripindi Shraddha.
