Puranas mention seven most sacred Teertha Kshetras or places for pilgrimage, as a means of attaining Moksha. They are said to be: Ayodhya, Mathura, Maya, Kashi, Avanitka, Puri and Dvaravati. Names of some of these places have undergone change. Among these Ayodhya is more popular as Sri Rama Janma Bhumi of Ayodhya. The sacred seven places are also the equivalents of seven Chakras (Nadis) in one’s body. In order to attain Moksha, one has to realize these Chakras in body, beginning at the Muladhar. The Chakras in the body are: Muladhar, Swadhishthan, Manipura, Anahata, Vishuddha, Ajna and Sahasrar.

The day of Swati Star coupled with Vaishakha Chaturdashi (Meaning: 14th day of second month in Hindu calendar) in the Shuklapaksha (bright fortnight) is celebrated as Narasimha Jayanti (Avatar of Lord Narasimha Swamy to end the tyranny of Hiranyakashipu).

Kamakshi Temple in the city of Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu State, is an ancient Hindu Temple dedicated to Goddess Parvati (called Kamakshi), the ultimate form of Goddess Lalita Maha Tripurasundari.
