Ashlesha Bali Pooja on Ashlesha Nakshatra

Ashlesha Bali Pooja is a special worship performed seeking protection and relief from Sarpa DoshNaga DoshKuja Dosham (Manglik Dosh) and Kala Sarpa Dosh. This worship is in practice from time immemorial. Worship of snakes or ‘Nagaradhana’ finds mention in many Puranas.

Relief from ill-health, problems in married life, fertility issues, skin related diseases, delays in every action, couple anxious to have kids and many such related difficulties are addressed by performing this puja.

Ashlesha is one of the 27 constellations in the Hindu Sanatan Astrology. Ashlesha means the ‘Unseparated’ or ‘Inseparable’. Lakshmana and Shatrughna were born in this constellation. This has been mentioned by Maharshi Valmiki in Ramayanam.

Ashlesha Nakshatra Shanti is another name for Ashlesha Bali Puja. Ashlesha Nakshatram is called Ayyilyam or Aiyillam in Tamil and Malayalam. Performing Shanti Poojas to those born in this constellation is considered beneficial. This is said to result in the benevolence of Sarpa Devatas.

While, Ashlesha bali is performed on the date of Ashlesha Star every month, you can also perform in the auspicious months of Shravanamaas, Kartikamaas and Margashiramaas of Hindu Calendar.

Ashleshabali Puja Vidhi

A Sarpa Mandala is drawn. Images of Shesh Nag will be placed and offered worships as defined in the tradition. Jaap or Japam will be done with suitable chant like Sarpa Sooktam. The bali made from ghee, rice and wheat is offered to these serpent gods.
